Research on Automotive Intelligence Index and Evaluation Methods

The Automotive Intelligence Index is a technology roadmap and evaluation method for automotive intelligence based on SAE level classification jointly promoted by the China Automotive Technology Research Center and the domestic and foreign automotive industry. It is composed of a three in one weighting of performance evaluation (laboratory and closed testing scenarios), practical condition evaluation (open road testing scenarios), and market subjective evaluation (indicators and satisfaction indicators), divided into functional and performance aspects.
The Automobile Intelligence Index will complete the full cycle evaluation work that runs through the development process of automobile intelligence level. Based on the automobile intelligence levels at different stages of Level 0-5, an evaluation index system that can achieve horizontal expansion and vertical deepening (as shown in the figure) will be established to continuously meet the sustainable evaluation needs of the intelligent automobile industry development.

For the current majority of intelligent vehicles in the Level 1-2 and transition stage to Level 3, the evaluation indicators mainly consider driving assistance systems, V2X communication functions, and other aspects. A corresponding three-level tree structure of indicators is established, forming an evaluation system based on single vehicle intelligence and networked intelligence, with driving assistance functions, Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Road (V2I), Vehicle to Network (V2N), and Vehicle to Person (V2P) as the basis for division, covering adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, lane keeping assistance, forward collision warning, traffic light warning, online/real-time navigation, pedestrian crossing warning and other indicators.
Based on the established evaluation index system, the advantages and disadvantages of subjective and objective evaluation methods are comprehensively utilized to determine the weight of indicators, and an evaluation model is constructed to complete the specific implementation process of the intelligent evaluation example of automobiles. Finally, the calculated evaluation scores and results can provide a basis for judging the level of automotive intelligence, thereby promoting the overall improvement of intelligent vehicle related technology research and product development, and also providing reliable reference for market consumers.
The unveiling ceremony and press conference of the China Yinchuan Intelligent Connected Vehicle Testing and Demonstration Operation Base were successfully held on February 6th. The base will serve as an open road testing base for evaluating the automotive intelligence index, and carry out corresponding and practical testing and evaluation work.
